The Dreams in Your Heart: A True Gift with Divine Instructions

So many people silently disqualify themselves from the very dreams in their heart—not because they lack passion or even clarity, but because they’ve convinced themselves they’re not ready, not worthy, or no longer capable. But here’s the truth that shifts everything: those dreams aren’t random. They’re not coincidence. They are divine assignments—placed on their heart by a God who knew exactly what He created them for, and those dreams are a part of His greater plan. They are already equipped to carry them out. It all starts with belief.

And yet, instead of viewing the dream as a divine instruction, they treat it like a distant hope—something fragile, optional, or out of reach.

I’ve walked with women navigating overwhelming careers, broken marriages, and uncertain seasons. Despite their strength, they often question whether their dreams are still valid. One client once said, “Who am I to go after something so big when my life feels like such a mess?” That voice of doubt isn’t rare—it’s common. But it’s not the truth.

I’ve been there too.

After surviving a traumatic brain injury—and again, years later, while enduring a toxic marriage—I questioned whether the dreams in my heart still mattered. I was in survival mode, just trying to get through the day. But what I eventually discovered is this: God doesn’t cancel the calling. He refines it. Each season of pain became preparation. And every detour, part of the design.

Why do we talk ourselves out of dreams we once believed in when we were younger?

Because somewhere along the way, we started believing that the dream had to be earned.
We measure it against our trauma, our timelines, and our mistakes.

We start thinking:

  • “It’s too late.”

  • “I missed my chance.”

  • “That version of me died when everything fell apart.”

But what if that setback didn’t disqualify you—but prepared you?

What if your lowest moment wasn’t the end—but the classroom God used to prepare you for something higher?

The dreams in your heart are not random—they are revelation.

They are evidence of who God created you to be.

And here's the truth most people miss:
You are already equipped.

God never plants a dream without providing the tools. But those tools may be buried under trauma, comparison, fear, and false beliefs.
They have to be
rediscovered, not created.

Your past didn’t disqualify you—it trained you.
Your healing is what now qualifies you to help someone else.

Reclaim the Dream, Reframe the Narrative

If you’ve shelved a dream because life didn’t go as planned, it’s time to pick it back up. Here’s how:

  1. Name the Dream
What have you been afraid to admit you still want? Write it down. Speak it out. Honor it.

  2. Challenge the Lie
Identify the voice telling you “you can’t.” Is it fear? Shame? Someone else's opinion? Replace it with truth: God doesn’t give half-assignments.

  3. Ask God for the Next Step
Don’t try to map the whole thing out. Ask for today’s instruction. Your obedience opens the way for provision and clarity. (It took me years to discover this truth)

  4. Reconnect with the Equipped Version of You
The real you—the one God created—is not lost. They are waiting under the layers of pain and performance. Rediscover her through prayer, journaling, and community.

Your dream was never meant to be a burden—it was meant to awaken your boldness.

It’s not too late.
You haven’t missed it.
You don’t have to have it all together.
You just need to believe that the One who planted the dream is still walking with you through the process.
