A Way Out of the Darkness—Help Me Extend HOPE to Our Veterans
By Elizabeth Meigs | Founder of Elizabeth Inspires, Creator of the Roadmap to Resilience™ & The Pathway to PEACE™ Method
At the end of June, I had the incredible honor of leading a Roadmap to Resilience™ workshop for a group of veterans—brave men and women who have served our country, yet often return home feeling unseen, stuck, or broken inside.
Some arrived carrying quiet battles—grief, trauma, and a deep sense of “not enough.”
Feeling like nothing but a disappointment to everyone in their life.
They knew they needed healing, but had no idea where to begin.
They wanted to believe there was more to life—but didn’t know how to access it.

But when we gathered in that room, God moved.
He met each person right where they were, using my story and the message He gave me to remind them:
You are not alone. You are not beyond healing. You were made for more.
Since then, two of those veterans felt led to book a Double Your PEACE Discovery Call with me. (One of which has been done; the other will be done soon.)
But just a few days after that workshop, I received devastating news.
A veteran I went to school with—someone I once shared classrooms and hallways with—had taken his own life.
That night, I laid in bed weeping. My heart broke all over again—for him, for his family, and for every veteran silently suffering under the weight of invisible pain. Because I remember that feeling and what it was like living in that darkness.
In that moment, I felt the Holy Spirit stir within me, and God gave me a revelation I’ll never forget:
“I’ve already equipped you with the skills, the knowledge, and the heart to help this group. This is your assignment.”
But He didn’t stop there.
He also revealed something I didn’t expect—but desperately needed to hear:
“You can no longer do this on your own. If you’re going to help at the level I’m calling you to, you must ask for help.”
That encounter shifted something in me.
It turned grief into conviction… sorrow into purpose… and self-reliance into surrendered obedience.
It reminded me why this work matters—and that it’s not just mine to carry.
It’s a call to community.
In the Discovery Call that had been completed, the veteran shared how the tools and insights I gave him during that call lit a spark inside him—a renewed hope.
He took notes. He asked questions. He leaned in.
He could see, maybe for the first time in a long while, that there is a way out of the darkness.
He wants to join my upcoming 8-week group coaching program, launching later this summer—a program designed to help people shift from merely surviving to truly living again.
To discover the peace they’ve been missing.
To believe in themselves again.
To open their hearts to all of life’s possibilities.
But here’s the reality:
Many of these veterans simply can’t afford to take the next step, which decreases their belief in the possibility of healing.
Not because they don’t want healing—but because they’ve been stuck for so long, emotionally and financially.
That’s where you come in.
✨ I’ve launched a fundraiser to offer partial scholarships to veterans who are ready for transformation but need help to move forward.
These scholarships will allow them to participate in the 8-week group program at a reduced cost—removing the financial burden and giving them a chance to heal, grow, and step into the purpose God has for them.
If this moves your heart, I believe that’s God nudging you—just like He nudged those veterans… and just like He nudged me in the middle of my tears, and has nudged me the last 25 years of my life.
So I’m asking:
🙏 Pray for these men and women.
💛 Share this blog or the fundraiser link with someone who believes in mental wellness, faith, and second chances.
🌱 Give if you feel led—no amount is too small.
Together, we can provide more than encouragement.
We can provide access to real transformation.
